General Parviz Amini Afshar was born in Tabriz in 1927. Further to his studies in Tabriz and Tehran, he succeeded in entering the military academy with a view to serving his people and the country. Having finished the terms at the academy, he was one of the first officers to be selected to serve in the Imperial Guards, where he spent his entire military career with courage and integrity.
In 1953, he was sent to America as an officer of the Imperial Guards to train for six months in Fort Benning, Georgia. Upon his return to Iran from America, he served in various positions in the Imperial Guards until 1962, when he was selected with the rank of Major to enroll for the American National War University for one year. After returning home, he worked in the Special Intelligence Office of the Imperial Armed forces headed by General Fardoost.
During the dark days of 1963, he was working in the special intelligence office until he was elected by the order of His Imperial Majesty to head the Imperial Intelligence Guards, where he served for many years with integrity and courage. Having being promoted to the rank of Brigadier, he was chosen to head the infantry division of the Imperial Guards and served in that position until 1977.
In April of 1977, he was promoted to the rank of Major General and, by the end of December of 1978, was elected as the head of the Second Department of the Imperial Iranian Armed forces, where he served to the end. During his service as an officer, he managed to receive various medals and badges from the hands of His Imperial Majesty and also from dignitaries from various countries around the world.
On February 10th, 1979, he was summarily tried and executed by Khomeini’s revolutionary courts. He faced the firing squads bravely and without any guilt, solely for his patriotism and serving in the Imperial Guard.
